Inlays and Onlays
When a cavity is too big for a normal filling, an inlay or onlay is used instead. An inlay is a subtle tooth-coloured restoration, typically made of porcelain or resin, which can fill large cavities and repair damaged teeth. Onlays (overlays) will overlay one or more cusps in order to protect and strengthen the tooth. For even bigger cavities, crowns are recommended. Inlays and onlays are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.
